Fellowship
Fellowship is Koinonia. It is bringing together a group of like minds in order to sustain communion and spiritual focus. Before you can have fellowship with someone there must be a common goal. In IWMI we fellowship together for the church and for a spiritual focus — intercession.
It is imperative to understand that friendship is built in the place of fellowship. The people you build friendships with as an IWMI intercessor matter. As you consistently fellowship with people there is a rub-off of information, ideas, and character. There is no higher friend than the one you daily fellowship with, learning and praying together, the one who fulfils the script with you.
In fulfilling the script, you must fellowship with one another, be it in prayers or teaching. Your life and relationship in IWMI should not be limited to making prayers of intercession; you should be able to share your challenges, difficulties and successes with one another. Fellowship and counsel together build your faith. Acts 2:41-42 teaches that the early church and disciples were always there to fellowship and help each other.
Identifying When to Stop / Reduce Fellowship
Whomever you have fellowship with must be obedient to instructions and disciplined in carrying out the assignment. 2 Thessalonians 3:14 (AMP) counsels us to take special note of one who does not obey, not regarding him as an enemy but admonishing him as a believing brother.
When you sense that the person you fellowship with is not yielding fruit, is disobedient and undisciplined, you should withdraw because they can reduce your faith. Do not separate yourself totally from them, but have in mind that the person is learning; give them space, and pray for them.
Conclusion
We must learn to truly fellowship with one another in IWMI. It is how we relate with our sisters that we relate with God.
